CLRS Technology Announces FDA Clearance

By:yelifang    Time:2010-05-25

CLRS Technology Corporation announced it received over-the-counter (OTC) clearance from the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its revolutionary acne clearing device CLARO. The OTC clearance for CLARO signifies the first time a hand-held Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy device has been available to the consumer for home use, without a prescription.

For more than 2 decades, IPL has been widely used by Dermatologists and this announcement marks the first time that the same therapy is available directly to the consumer. "This technology is far superior to any home-use acne devices currently available, and more closely resembles the treatment a patient would receive through a medical professional," said Richard Oberreiter, CEO of CLRS Technology. Currently marketed devices target acne with blue light alone and take days or even weeks to show any results. In contrast, CLARO targets acne with blue and red light, along with infra-red energy to clear blemishes in as little as 24 hours.

Using patented technology, CLARO delivers a series of light pulses in 6 seconds which penetrates clogged pores; eliminating the bacteria that cause acne while also reducing inflammation. Clinical studies demonstrate a 94.8% decrease in p.acnes bacteria after just one 6-second treatment. CLARO is indicated for the treatment of mild to moderate inflammatory acne and does not require the use of any lotions, creams or pills and has no side-effects.

"Acne is a chronic medical condition that impacts 85% of the population; often leaving emotional, as well as physical scars. We are delighted to be the first to make IPL treatment widely available to the public at large," said Richard Clement MD, co-founder of CLRS Technology.
